Neurofeedback

I am neurofeedback trained, which means I use specialist equipment that reads the brain’s electrical activity through small, non-invasive sensors placed on the scalp. These electrodes do not give anything to the brain, they simply read the brain’s activity and translate it into continuous feedback that the brain can respond to.

About

During a session, you sit comfortably while the system monitors how different areas of your brain are functioning. Visual or auditory feedback then guides your brain toward more regulated and efficient patterns, supporting improvements in focus, emotional balance, sleep and resilience.

Neurofeedback is especially supportive for people experiencing anxiety, trauma symptoms, attention difficulties, emotional overwhelm and nervous-system dysregulation.  I integrate neurofeedback insights with therapeutic work, helping clients understand what their brain is doing and how to develop healthier patterns of regulation from the inside out. If you are not ready to talk, neurofeedback can take place in complete silence, you do not need to speak until you feel comfortable.

What Neurofeedback actually does

Neurofeedback is a form of brain-based training that helps the brain learn to function in a more balanced and regulated way. It works by reading the brain’s electrical activity and giving immediate feedback about what it is doing through sound, visuals or gentle changes in a video or game.

The electrodes do not put anything into the brain, they simply read activity. The feedback shows the brain when it is moving into patterns of stress, distraction, overwhelm or dysregulation and when it is shifting into calmer, clearer or more regulated states.

Because the brain is naturally adaptive, this feedback helps it learn new, healthier patterns. Over time, the brain becomes better at:

  • regulating emotions

  • reducing anxiety and reactivity/impulsions

  • improving focus and attention

  • settling sleep patterns

  • stabilising mood

  • recovering more quickly from stress

Neurofeedback can be especially supportive for people experiencing:

  • trauma symptoms

  • PTSD / CPTSD

  • ADHD or Autistic traits

  • anxiety or panic

  • burnout and overwhelm

  • emotional dysregulation

  • menopausal symptoms

  • addiction

  • mental health conditions and mood disorders

  • OCD

By training the brain directly, neurofeedback complements talking therapy, helping the nervous system become more resilient, flexible and steady.
